The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-7 emphasized the nationwide anti-drug advocacy campaign of the Department—the “Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan (BIDA) program—during the conduct of various Barangay Assembly held in March across Central Visayas.
Aside from the field officers, DILG-7 mobilized its permanent staff from the regional office to attend the barangay assembly of their respective barangays where they reside and deliver the message of DILG Secretary Atty. Benjamin Abalos Jr.
Dahil dito BIDA ka, KAya natin ‘to!,” read part of SILG’s message.
Central Visayas, which comprises the provinces of Cebu, Bohol, Negros Oriental and Siquijor and the highly urbanized cities of Mandaue, Cebu and Lapu-Lapu, has a total of 3,003 barangays.
The Barangay Assembly in March was for the first semester of the calendar year 2023. Another assembly is set in October for the second semester.
The assembly aims to discuss the semestral report of the sangguniang barangay, discuss issues affecting the barangay, and provide an opportunity for community members to participate in the decision-making process of their barangay.
