The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-7 through the DILG Mandaue City conducted the first-ever Barangay Share-out Activity for Cambaro Women’s Network (CAWNET), the city’s first AMUMA community savings group which started in May 2023.
This is also the first among all AMUMA community savings groups to conduct the share-out activity, which indicates its maturity as a community savings group.
Partner agencies such as Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) 7, and the Department of Agriculture (DA) 7, are also present to conduct orientation on the services they offer from which CAWNET can now avail.
Brgy. Captain Maricar Sanchez Cañete, in her opening remarks, expresses her gratitude to the department for bringing AMUMA in their barangay, which enables the members to practice good financial management.
LGOO II Reymund Cuizon of DILG Mandaue City facilitated the activity, while TESDA representative TES Specialist II Clark Henry Ratcliff, presented the services and training offered by TESDA. DA representative Senior Agriculturist Leonila Gono discussed the programs of their department.
In his closing remarks, AMUMA focal person, LGOO II Ruel Evangelista, is grateful to witness the 1st year cycle share-out of Brgy. Cambaro, and encourages them to continue their cycle of AMUMA sa Barangay.
The AMUMA sa Barangay program, the brainchild of Regional Director Leocadio Trovela, is derived from the Cebuano word “Amuma,” which means “to nourish, to take care of.” It aims to strengthen the capability of barangay governments in building and sustaining accountable, progressive, and self-reliant communities for the benefit of their constituents.
