DILG-7 gets 5-star rating in GEMP spot-check

The Department of the Interior and Local Government Regional Office 7 is among the 29 national government agencies and government-owned and controlled corporations in Central Visayas who gained a 5-star rating in the random spot-checking which was conducted by the Department of Energy (DOE) in compliance to Administrative Order No. 15 directing the accelerated implementation of the Government Energy Management Program (GEMP).

This rating is a manifestation of DILG-7’s efforts and commitment in ensuring the efficient and judicious utilization of energy in the regional office.

750 Libreng Tsinelas, 34 Libreng SugBUGAS given to 3rd District

The Sugbo Provincial Management and Coordinating Committee, composed of DILG Sugbo as chair and JTG Cebu, CPPO, BFP, BJMP, PDEA, NAPOLCOM, PCG, and NAVFORCEN as members, distributed 400 pairs of slippers and 34 packs of 5kg rice to the 3rd District of Cebu during the Caravan of Services for the 1st quarter of 2024 in Aloguinsan on March 9.

Governor Gwen Garcia likewise gave additional 350 slippers to the seven LGUs of the 3rd District.

Outstanding Local Lady Legislators Awards (OLLLA) launched

The Lady Local Legislators League (4L) Cebu Chapter and DILG Sugbo officially launched on February 22 the Outstanding Local Lady Legislators Awards (OLLLA) which aims to give recognition to the exemplary performance of female legislators in the Province.

During the first general assembly of the Philippine Councilors League Cebu Chapter, 4L Cebu President Nerissa Corazon Soon-Ruiz thanked DILG Sugbo headed by Provincial Director Atty. Ian Kenneth Lucero for the assistance in coming up with the indicators for the awards system.

Lucero, in the same gathering, presented the OLLLA indicators which was crafted by his team composed of Liloan MLGOO James Andrew Andaya, Oslob MLGOO Deanna Mingueto, Sibonga MLGOO Susan Tolentino, Moalboal MLGOO Lyn Aguelo, and LGOO VI Jupiter Dawa of the Provincial Office.

Lucero graces BNEO orientations of Alcantara and Barili

Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-7 OIC-Assistant Regional Director and Sugbo Provincial Director Atty. Ian Kenneth Lucero served as knowledge sharer during the orientations for Barangay Newly Elected Officials of the Municipalities of Alcantara and Barili today, February 26, in Cebu City.

Lucero shared pertinent laws and Supreme Court rulings and likewise reminded them to adhere to the laws, rules, and regulations governing the performance of their duties and functions.

DILG-7 lay out targets, plans for 1st Quarter Executive Committee Meeting

In line with the scheduled first quarter Executive Committee Meeting, focal persons from the regional office and program managers of the sub-regional offices convened in a hybrid setup for the pre-executive committee meeting on Friday, January 26, 2024, at the

Planning Officer LGOO VI Frislie Gay Virador presided at the meeting starting with the presentation of the 2023-2028 Strategic Plan to serve as guide for the planning and laying out of the regional targets for FY 2024.

HRMO III Josefina Daisy Cabo also presented updates on the Strategic Performance Management System (SPMS) matters.

The first quarter Executive Committee Meeting will take place on January 29-31 in Moalboal, Cebu.

BNEO kicks off with Program Managers’ Orientation

The first part of the Barangay Newly Elected Officials (BNEO) towards Grassroots Renewal and Empowerment for Accountable and Transparent (GREAT) Barangays Program for Central Visayas officially commenced Thursday, January 25, 2023 in Cebu City.

Spearheaded by the Local Government Academy (LGA), the program managers and field officers from the region attending on a hybrid setup, underwent series of sessions tackling the program framework, as well as the design and strategy in the roll out of the Basic Orientation Course for Barangay Officials, and the overall implementation of the BNEO towards GREAT Barangays Program.

OIC-Assistant Regional Director/concurrent DILG Sugbo Provincial Director Atty. Ian Kenneth Lucero represented Director Leocadio Trovela, CESO III in giving the welcome message.

Also present were DILG Cebu City Director Dr. Neila Aquino, DILG Mandaue City Director Johnjoan Mende, DILG Lapu-Lapu City Director Jonah Pino, LGCDD Chief Maria Thelya Oporto, LGMED Chief Celerino Magto Jr., and other DILG-7 personnel and secretariat.

A total of four sessions regarding BNEO were conducted. The Assistant Chief of LGA’s Local Governance Training and Development Division (LGTDD) Elmo Dimaano, OIC-Assistant Chief of the Research and Policy Development Division (PDD) Euly Enrique, LGOO IV John Kien Develos and Training Specialist III Marvin Renelle Rollo who are both from the LGTDD, were the lecturers.

Following the series of discussions, the participants delved into crafting their action plan per sub-regional office. One representative from DILG Negros Oriental presented their output which later underwent critiquing.

BNEO aims to help capacitate barangay officials, especially those newly-minted, with the necessary skills, knowledge, and resources for them to deliver their duties effectively and efficiently leading to better and greater communities.

DILG-7 pays homage to Sto. Niño

As a yearly tradition, the DILG-7 chorale and personnel led by singer and composer Manny Lapingcao once again served as the choir for the 8:30 a.m mass in the 9th Day Novena on Friday, Jan. 19, 2024, at the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño in Cebu City.

Later in the afternoon, regional office personnel offered Sinulog dance to the Holy Child, Señor Santo Niño, at the Regional Office in Sudlon, Lahug.

The Finance and Administrative Division, Local Government Monitoring and Evaluation Division, Office of the Regional Director, and Local Government Capability Development Division presented their Sinulog dance interpretations.

The annual activity is part of the region’s offering and devotion during the Fiesta Señor.

KALINISAN program goes full blast in R7

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-7 together with the local government unit of Cebu City, national government agencies and private partners joined the whole nation in the simultaneous launching of the KALINISAN Program on Saturday, January 6.

The KALINISAN (Kalinga at Inisyatiba para sa Malinis na Bayan) launching held at the Plaza Independencia was the regional showcase in Central Visayas.

Local government units across Region 7 also conducted their own clean-up drive in their respective areas.

Present during the activity in Cebu City were DILG 7 Director Leocadio Trovela, Mayor Michael Rama, Liga ng mga Barangay President Franklyn Ong, DILG Cebu City Director Dr. Neila Aquino, Punong Barangays, Cebu City hall personnel, DILG 7 regional office and DILG Cebu City personnel.

Also present were DILG 7 Family and RMCC-7 members from the Police Regional Office, Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, and other national government agencies.

Members of the 219th Coast Guard Auxiliary Squadron and Knights of Rizal also graced the clean-up drive.

RDRRMC-7 lauds Dumaguete City’s initiative on disaster preparedness

Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-7 Director Leocadio Trovela graced the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council 7 (RDRRMC-7) Full Council Meeting on Monday, December 18, in Lapu-Lapu City.

 

Dir. Trovela is the vice-chair for disaster preparedness cluster.

 

One of the guests for the Q4 meeting was Dumaguete City Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo, who was recognized for its initiatives on the city’s disaster preparedness.

 

Present in the meeting were regional directors and RDRRMC 7 focal persons from various national government agencies.

 

DILG-7 joins Pasko sa Kapitolyo

Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-7 Regional Director Leocadio Trovela and OIC-Assistant Regional Director and DILG Cebu Provincial Director Atty. Ian Kenneth Lucero joined the Christmas tree lighting of Cebu Capitol headed by Governor Gwen Garcia Thursday night, Dec.14, at the Capitol grounds.

Department of Tourism Undersecretary Shahlimar Hofer Tamano, former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque, officials from national line agencies, members of Sangguniang Panlalawigan led by Vice Governor Hilario Davide III, local chief executives from Cebu’s cities and municipalities, private partners and other stakeholders graced the light-up ceremony.

The two DILG officials also witnessed the Awarding of Sugbo Negosyo Season 2 held at the Capitol Social Hall.
