The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) 7 led by Director Leocadio Trovela launched the BANSIWAG awards for local government units on Nov. 25, 2024, in Cebu City.
Bansiwag, a Bisaya word that means to stick out prominently, started as an internal awarding for DILG personnel who stood out and demonstrated excellence in the delivery of the programs, projects, activities and initiatives.
This time around, the Bansiwag was introduced to the LGUs, linking it to the awards given annually by the Department.
“This Bansiwag Awards for LGUs came to fruition as our way of gathering you together and in a one-momentous awarding ceremony that acknowledges your continued efforts in pursuit of good governance,” said Dir. Trovela on his speech.
The LGUs were hailed for their excellent efforts in the Local Council For the Protection of Children Functionality, Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards, and Seal of Good Local Governance for Barangay.
