Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr. has directed the members of the Regional Management and Coordinating Council (RMCC) in Region VII to submit their respective lists of issues and recommendations in aid of measures.

This after the Secretary had an interface with RMCC-7 (Interior Sector), which is composed of the Bureau of Fire Protection-7, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Police Regional Office-7, and National Police Commission-7.

The Secretary shared effective mechanisms to address issues of illegal drugs, stressing the importance of witnesses for drug cases to prosper.

“No letup in war vs drugs. Let’s intensify. Intense as before. Cases must be airtight so they won’t be dismissed due to technicalities like lack of witnesses,” he said.

Sec. Abalos vowed to continue going after police scawalags and stood against fraternity-related violence like hazing.

He enjoined everyone to help the Department in implementing its programs and in looking for possible solutions and strategies to pressing issues, such as illegal drugs, congested jails, and lack of equipment and personnel, among others.
