The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-7 participated in the 121st Labor Day Celebration, led by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-7, Monday, May 1, 2023, at Hoops Dome, Lapu-Lapu City.
The officials who represented the DILG-7 were LGMED Chief Celerino Magto, Jr., DILG Cebu City OIC-Cluster Head Michael Eltanal together with the personnel of the Department.
The ceremony with the theme, “Pabahay, Bilihing Abot-Presyo, Benepisyo ng Matatag na Trabaho para sa Manggagawang Pilipino” was graced by Regional Director Lilian Estillore, DOLE-RO7, Chairman of the Regional Tripartite Industrial Peace Council, Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan, Chairman, TIPC Lapu-Lapu City, and Mayor Michael Rama, Chairman, Cebu City TIPC. Present also were Mayor Erlinda Piedad of the Municipality of Malabuyoc, the representatives from Talisay City Mayor Gerald Anthony Gullas, Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes, Congresswoman Emmarie Ouano-Dizon, and Congresswoman Ma. Cynthia King Chan, Cebu Provincial Government, Labor and Private Sectors, and other government agencies.
Further, the activity held Free Services and Livelihood Fair for interested individuals and job seekers. Moreover, government assistance was distributed to the beneficiaries of DILP, TUPAD, KADIWA, and TESDA Tool kits and Scholarship Grants. Furthermore, a Mass Oath taking of all officers of RTIPC, TIPCs, and ITCs was conducted.
The DILG conveyed its steadfast support to programs and initiatives designed to help the workers and communities generate income and improve their economic well-being and promote their welfare and basic rights.
