Personnel from the DILG-7 regional office were mobilized to join the Barangay Assembly for the first semester of the calendar year 2023 in their respective barangays and delivered the message of Secretary of the Interior and Local Government Atty. Benjamin Abalos Jr.
LGMED Chief Celerino Magto Jr. graced the Barangay Assembly in Punta Princesa, Cebu City on behalf of Regional Director Leocadio Trovela on Saturday, March 18.
This year’s 1st-semester barangay assembly carries the theme “B-BIDA KA! Barangay BIDA, Kasama KA sa Pagpatupad ng Kapayapaan, Pangangalaga ng Kalikasan, at Pagpapaigting ng Pagkakaisa Tungo sa Isang Ligtas, Mapapayapa, Maunlad, at Masaganang Pamayanan.
In his message, SILG gave emphasis on the critical role of the barangay in peace and order, environment protection, pandemic response, fight against illegal drugs and food security. He added that these efforts of the barangay will greatly contribute to the attainment of a peaceful, secure and progressive communities.
Punong Barangay Eleno Andales, Jr. welcomed the sangguniang barangay members, sanggunaian kabataan officials, DILG personnel, tanods, lupons, barangay officers and residents present at the Atillo Gym.
He likewise presented the accomplishments and status of compliance of the barangay with national laws and issuances during his State of the Barangay Address.
Further, DILG Cebu City OIC-Director Dr. Neila Aquino and PMAJ Janelito Marquez of Cebu City Police Station 10 delivered their respective messages.
Barangay Punta Princesa is this year’s Barangay Assembly showcase barangay in Central Visayas.
All permanent officers and staff of the regional office are tasked to join the barangay assembly in their respective barangays where they reside.
The barangay assembly aims to discuss the semestral report of the sangguniang barangay, discuss issues affecting the barangay, and provide an opportunity for community members to participate in the decision-making process of their barangay.
