A temporary shelter for former rebels will soon be constructed in Negros Oriental after the inauguration of a Halfway house and Museum through a groundbreaking ceremony at the Camp Leon Kilat in Tanjay City, Negros Oriental today, July 5, 2021.
The halfway house will serve as a temporary shelter for former rebels who recently returned to the fold of the law.
Livelihood training and other reintegration activities will be conducted in the facility to prepare former rebels for their reintegration into mainstream society.
Former rebels stay in the facility while waiting for the processing of their benefits under the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).
The Negros E-CLIP Committee spearheaded the groundbreaking ceremony, which was attended by Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG-7) Regional Director Leocadio Trovela, Negros Oriental Governor and chair of Provincial Task Force-ELCAC Roel Degamo, and commander of the 302nd Brigade Col. Leonardo Peña.
Also present were PCol Glen Mayam of Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office, Lt. Col. Roderick Salayo of the 11th Infantry Battalion, DILG Negros Oriental Provincial Director Farah Gentuya, former Bais City mayors Karen and Hector Villanueva, Provincial Administrator Atty. Edmund Dy, among others.
Under E-CLIP, former rebels are integrated back to the community with benefits and assistance package from the government.
