All the 80 barangays in Cebu City got a brand new laptop from the Liga ng mga Barangay-Cebu City Chapter during the Plenary of Barangay Newly Elected Officials (BNEO) Towards Grassroots Renewal and Empowerment for Accountable and Transparent (GREAT) Barangays Program in Waterfront Cebu on Friday, April 20.
OIC-Assistant Regional Director and Sugbo Provincial Director Atty. Ian Kenneth Lucero opened the activity with an inspirational message on behalf of Regional Director Leocadio Trovela.
Cebu City Director Dr. Neila Aquino discussed public ethics and accountability.
Other speakers were Atty. Jerone G. Castillo from City Budget, Marbert D. Nuñeza from City Accounting, Jonah John Rodriguez of COSAP, Limuel G. Jaca of Bureau of Tresuary, Emma Ramas of Solid Waste, and Cristina Alazas of SAKM Cluster-ELCAC.
LnB Cebu City-Chapter led by its president Franklyn Ong turned over the laptop to barangay officials as part of the project under the Advanced Barangay Computerization (ABC) Program.
Later in the afternoon, City Mayor Michael Rama briefly visited the venue to give his message to the barangay officials.
The plenary served as the third and final module for all the 80 barangays in Cebu City.
BNEO started last April 11 with the barangays divided into three batches to keep the seminar interactive.
The BNEO for Cebu City officials was spearheaded by DILG-Cebu City, LnB-Cebu City Chapter and the Cebu City Government.
